America's Cup

2021 -  Dates to be announced 31st August 2018


The competition for the oldest trophy in international sport and dates back to 1851. The upcoming 2021 America’s Cup will be contested by Emirates Team New Zealand who won the last Cup in Bermuda in 2017. 2021’s Challengers include Italy’s Luna Rossa Challenge and INEOS Team UK. INEOS, one of the world’s largest manufacturing companies is making the biggest ever British investment in the Cup in an effort to bring the trophy back to Britain for the first time since the competition was established and Sir Ben Ainslie will lead the design and build programme as well as taking the helm. The US team is named American Magic - a reference to the first Cup winner America and the first defender, Magic. There’s speculation that entries will follow from Australia and China, as well as second challengers from Italy and the US.

The racing will take place at New Zealand's Hauraki Gulf on the east coast of the North Island. Superyachts from all over the world will flock to Auckland’s Waitematā Harbour, the main venue, to view the racing. Some will be available to charter - please contact us for details.
